Jean Foreman recalls a harsh winter

20th October 2019

Jean was born and brought up at Uswayford. In the winter of 1947, the family lost most of their flock of Scottish Blackface sheep. In 1955, when snow came again and they had been cut off for two week, Jean remembers her father walking three miles through the drifts to the phone at Barrowburn to ask for help with hay for his sheep.
