Musician or composer? We want you…..

This is an opportunity to create a substantial piece of music as part of the OOT project. You will use our audio, written and image collection as source material to create an original composition exploring the relationship between people, places and the journeys that link them.

The final piece should include original lyrics and the spoken word as well as a variety of instrumentation and musical styles. You will work remotely with local musicians and singers of all ages, with a range of musical abilities, to compose this score for both a digital and live community performance in late summer/early autumn of 2022.

To apply, please submit a letter and CV which demonstrates community participation and provide an outline of how the local community will be able to contribute both to the design and production of the final composition.

The successful candidate should be able to show us

  • Experience of working with working with cultural heritage and in community settings
  • Experience and understanding of working in collaboration and a commitment to community engagement whilst complying with Covid 19 guidelines and social distancing practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of the culture and heritage of Upper Coquetdale
  • Experience of composing, rehearsing and recording music through collaborative and/or participatory processes
  • High proficiency as an instrumentalist, preferably a multi-instrumentalist
  • To provide own equipment and/or budget accordingly for materials or equipment needed as part of the activity
  • To work in a fully inclusive and accessible manner
